Cheese. Festival.
Was at first amazing- but then the hoards showed up and the lines were really long. I’m ashamed to admit this, but towards the end I had had enough cheese and didn’t really want anymore. How can I call myself a Wisconsinite, or a dairy lover?? Don’t tell my dad.
On the bright side I got some great cheeses!! “Grumpy goat” aged goat cheese from Nordic Creamery, tandoori masala spiced abergele cheese (going to go GREAT with my chicken tikka masala recipe) from Harmony Specialty Dairy Foods, garlic and herb chevre from Stickney Hill Dairy Farms, and real live camembert!! (from Cedar Summit Farm) Which is super hard to find in America- not to sound like a snob or anything. Its kind of oozy on the inside, which doesn’t always appeal to American tastes. Also, camembert is fucking expensive, so even if I do find it I usually don’t buy it. This chunk was no exception to the expensive rule.
Other items of interest (to me at least)- espresso flavored Parmesan from Sartori, and espresso flavored balsamic vingear from Olive on Tap (along with their cajun and garlic flavored olive oils- Damn good stuff), sheep cheese, bleu cheese from Fairbault Caves (intense flavor, but also very creamy) , and the herb butter from Singing Hills Dairy. Overall the experience was great- my life has been severely lacking in the cheese department lately. And it was nice to spend time with my friends since we usually just see each other at work.

First mosquito bites of the season!
All thanks to my lovely kitty Zeus for escaping and evading capture for a good forty minutes this evening. Now he sleeps peacefully at my side, like nothing ever happened. i’d be more upset, but I finally jumped on the Hunger Games train and read the books. Good, interesting, twisty, but some bitch-ass characters. I’m not a fan of Katniss. Or when my other cat jumps up and slinks to the front door at 2 am as if something is worth investigating.

‘Jabba the Hedgehog’ Wins Star Wars Costume Contest
A hedgehog named Lucy has been crowned the winner of this year’s International Star Wars Costume Contest.
“She just rolled into a pudgy little ball, popped her head out and did an evil laugh like Jabba the Hutt,” says Samantha Frank, one of the contest judges. “She really wowed us — no costume required!”
